Update: Google Chrome version 121 is now available to everyone on the Stable channel. However, the experimental AI features like auto-grouping of tabs, creating text, and generating themes, are only limited to users in the US at the moment – the features will become generally available soon. Additionally, Google Chrome addresses 17 security features, 3 of which are of high severity.
Google has released Cadence for the Chrome browser for 4 weeks. However, with the Christmas holidays in between, we had to wait 7 weeks before Chrome finally rolled out Chrome 121. Users preselected for the Early Stable release of Chrome Chrome version 121.0.6167.75. Now, the Windows users will get Chrome version 121.0.6167.85/.86.

What’s new in Chrome 121
Generative AI in Chrome
As mentioned earlier, Google is beginning to test generating AI with Chrome 121. This means that artificial intelligence will be able to assist you with your writing.
According to some leaks from Leopeva64 on “X” (Twitter), the “Experimental AI” tab has replaced the “Advanced” tab in Chrome’s settings.
- Help me write: This option will be available in the context menu when you right-click on a text field on the web. It will help you write short-form content and preset suggestions based on your prompts and the content of the web page.
- Tab Organizer: AI will automatically organize similar tabs for you, and reduce the clutter. To use this option, right-click on a tab and then click “Organize similar tabs.“
- Create themes with AI: You will be able to customize Chrome themes based on your mood, subject, visual style, and color of your choice. To use this feature, open a new tab and click “Customize theme.”
Option to disable autofill
The autofill option when working with forms and other input fields does not always work well in Chrome. Sometimes, using third-party password managers is the better alternative. However, currently, they do not work well with Chrome’s native autofilling capabilities and can often duplicate hovering autofill options.
Google now plans on including an option that will allow you to disable Chrome’s native autofill altogether on your Android devices.
Google could add web app restoration to Android
When you switch to a newer Android phone, all the apps are automatically downloaded off the Play Store as soon as you sign into your Google account. Similarly, Chrome will now allow you to restore your web applications as well that were previously available on your older device through the Chrome browser.
After switching your phone, opening the Chrome browser for the first time will prompt it to ask you whether you wish to restore your web apps.
Updated Material Design for Android
Google’s Android design language is continually changing, which causes its applications to change as well. That also applies to Chrome 121.
It gets a new toggle design in the settings that closely follows the most recent Material Design update from Google. The toggles are more vivid and prominent, which makes it simpler to quickly identify which are switched on and off.
