Following suit of Chrome and Firefox, Microsoft Edge has also been updated to version 120. To be precise, Microsoft is rolling out the Microsoft Edge version 120.0.2210.61.

This update does not bring any new features that are visible to the naked eye. However, it does patch up a total of 8 security vulnerabilities, 3 of which are specific to Edge. Additionally, it introduces new policies for IT administrators.

At the moment, Microsoft is yet to publish a security baseline for this version, but as per our observation, it would be the same as for Egde version 118.

On this page, you can download or upgrade to Microsoft Edge to version 120 using the given steps, and learn exactly what is new in this release.

  • Complete Release Build: 120.0.2210.61
  • Release Date: Thursday, December 7th, 2023
  • Compatibility: Windows 1110 (32-bit and 64-bit), Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.
  • Previous Build: 119.0.2151.44

New in Microsoft Edge 120

The following changes have been included in Microsoft Edge 120:

  • RendererAppContainer

For extra security benefits, the Windows native app container will now be enabled by default.

Note: If Enterprise organizations identify a compatibility issue due to code injection from security software, they should follow up with the software publisher directly. Alternatively, they can use the RendererAppContainerEnabled policy to trade off the security benefits in Microsoft Edge with their other software.

  • Updated SmartActionsBlockList policy

The SmartActionsBlockList policy is updated with new policy option mappings. Administrators can now configure the policy to control Smart actions like definitions on websites (smart_actions_website) or control Smart actions in PDFs and on websites (smart_actions).

New Policies

The following policies have been added for Edge 120:

  • AutoDiscardSleepingTabsEnabled

    Configures auto-discard sleeping tabs.

  • AutomaticProfileSwitchingSiteList

Configures the automatic profile switching site list.

  • Edge3PSerpTelemetryEnabled

Enables or disables the Edge 3P SERP Telemetry.

  • PostQuantumKeyAgreementEnabled

Enables or disables the post-quantum key agreement for TLS.

  • WebAppSettings

    Web App management settings.
