Microsoft has released cumulative updates for Windows 10 on 18 October, 2018. The updates are for Windows 10 versions 1607, 1703 and 1709.

The update version of KB4462928 for 1607 (Build 14393.2580), KB4462939 for 1703 (Build 15063.1418), KB4462932 for 1709 (Build 16299.755) has been released. There are some improvements and fixes in the latest versions.

It is always advisable to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 Version 1809.

Improvements and Fixes

  • When blocked apps from start menu were accessed, no error message was displayed. This issue has been resolved.
  • Cloud authentication performance for accounts that create logon sessions very quickly issues has been fixed.
  • Issues with time zone update has been resolved
  • Remote Desktop Services Gateway stopped working effectively in a load balanced scenario after 12 to 24 hours of uptime. This issue has been addressed
  • Race condition in temporary files and some antivirus scanners that causes .NET Framework applications to stop working error has also been addressed.
  • In the previous versions, when the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) mode was enabled, it was impossible to disable TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 . This issue has been resolved.
  •  When using client authentication certificates with the TLS protocol, applications have to handle leaks. This issue occurs when the FreeCredentialsHandle call occurs before the DeleteSecurityContext call in application code. Tis issue has been addressed
  • Memory leak issues on svchost.exe (netsvcs and IP Helper Service)has been resolved. Moreover there was an issue that consumes storage space on Cluster shared volume because of expansion of virtual hard disk on Hyper-V . As a result, virtual machine encounter some errors like it might stop working or get corrupted . This bug has been resolved

Known Issues

If you install Window Server 2019 Key Management Service (KMS) host keys (CSVLK) on Window Server 2016 KMS hosts, it does not work properly . This issue is currently in the process of being resolved and in the latest version it might get solved.

Improvements and Fixes

  • Addresses an issue in which the System.Security.Cryptography.Algorithms reference was not correctly loaded on .NET Framework 4.7.1 after the July 10, 2018 and August 14, 2018 patches.
