Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016 October 2017 Updates Direct Download Links

Microsoft has released several updates for MS Office 2013 and MS Office 2016 on 3rd October 2017. You can have the direct download links to all these updates at the end of the article.

These all are non-security updates, which put patches to almost all of your MS Office products for the relative version that is either 2013 or 2016.

I have added changelog for each update and then the downloaded link for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows are added so you may easily get the update via direct links which are safe to download.

Updates for Microsoft Office 2013

Update for Access 2013 (KB3172543)

  • This update improves the translation of the “Allow Full Menu” option for the Danish version of Access 2013.

Prerequisite

Update for Excel 2013 (KB4011181)

  • This update improves several translations for the Danish and German versions of Excel 2013.
  • After you update or refresh a PowerPivot table, the formatting disappears. This update also fixes this issue.

Update for Office 2013 (KB4011148)

This update fixes the following issue:

  • When you export a PDF file by using the Visio 2013 drawing control in an application, the PDF file is pixelated because it’s raster-based instead of vector-based. Any metafiles (.emf) in the original Visio content is rasterized instead of being emitted as vector instructions.

Update for Office 2013 (KB4011169)

  • This update makes Office applications work better in network environments that use proxy (.pac) files by dropping the additional and unnecessary direct Internet requests that could cause time-outs and delays.

This update also fixes the following issues:

  • If the “Disable hardware graphics acceleration” option is checked, you experience rendering issues when you are running Microsoft Project 2013.  All these issues have been fixed.
  • Some memory allocation issues are not optimally handled on 32-bit editions of Office 2013 applications that are running on high-resolution devices.

Update for Microsoft Project 2013 (KB4011156)

This update fixes the following issue:

  • Assume that you edit a project that’s connected to Project Server 2013 in Project Professional 2013. When you try to save the project, you may receive the following error message.
    “Change would modify work entered by a team member
    We can’t make that change because Project Web App is set to only allow actual work to be entered by team members through Timesheets or My Work.”

This update fixes the following issues:

  • Visio crashes when you open a file that contains swim lanes. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
    “Unhandled exception at 0x6846B979 (VISLIB.DLL) in VISIO.EXE: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000”.
  • When you change the style for a shape by using Visio Drawing Control in an application, the application may crash.

Update for Excel 2016 (KB4011166)

This update includes the following improvements and fixes the following issues:

  • This update improves the system resource usage when you deal with Excel 2016 files that contain many formulas.
  • This update improves several translations for the Danish and German versions of Excel 2016.
  • This update also fixes the following issues:
    • An issue occurs in the column order in the OLE DB provider when you use a data model connection.
    • You see prompts to save each workbook that you have opened when you use PowerPivot in Excel 2016.
    • When you undo a measure creation in a PowerPivot table, Excel 2016 may crash.
    • When you rename a measure by using the measure editing dialog box of Excel in a PowerPivot table, the measure is broken, and Excel 2016 may crash.
    • Measure Editor displays red lines (an error state) for a pasted formula even when the formula is correct.
    • When you update a Project Online ODATA dataset, you receive the following error message: “Object must implement Iconvertible”, this has been resolved.
    • You cannot update a model query when the loaded table has a trailing white space in the column name. This has been fixed.
    • Measure formatting is lost from the Pivot Table view when measures or more fields are added to the Pivot Table, this has been resolved.
    • Fixed an issue when, after you rename a measure from the PivotTable field list, you are unable to undo the operation.
    • The measure editing dialog box that’s opened from the PivotTable field list doesn’t work correctly during typing.
    • After you work on PowerPivot windows for a while, Excel 2016 displays an error message, and Power Pivot windows cannot be opened.
    • When you add or update measures from Excel, you receive an unhandled exception if Power Pivot is in the diagram view.
    • When you open a PowerPivot file, you receive the following error message “Excel found unreadable content”. This has been fixed.
    • Fixed an issue where Page breaks appear misaligned and the dragline continues to draw in wrong locations when you drag them in “Page Break Preview” view in Excel 2016.
  • After you install KB4011050, black borders may appear around rows or cells in Excel spreadsheets when you enter text. This is removed now.
  • Fixed an issue when, after you update a PowerPivot table, the formatting disappears.

Update for Project 2016 (KB4011141)

This update fixes the following issues:

Consider the following scenario:

  • You decide to edit a project in Project Web App or Project 2016.
    • You enter time-phased Actual or Actual Overtime work on an assignment and notice that it’s no longer scheduled the way that you expect it should be.
    • You adjust the assignment start dates and finish dates to reflect the schedule that you have expected.

In this situation, additional actual work that you don’t enter may be applied to the assignment unexpectedly. This has been fixed.

  • Fixed an error: Assume that you have a Project Server 2016 and Project Professional 2016, when you save a project that’s connected to the Project Server, you may receive the following error message.
    Change would modify work entered by a team member

Update for Word 2016 (KB4011140)

This update fixes the following issues:

  • After you save a Word file that contains tables in a vertical text box to a PDF file, some or all of the table borders are missing in the PDF file.
  • In Outlook 2016, the bottoms of some characters (descenders) might be clipped with certain fonts at certain zoom factors.
  • Fixed an issue when, after you enable Information Rights Management (IRM) for a SharePoint document library that uses required custom columns, you cannot create new documents in this library from the templates and receive the following error message ”The file is uploaded as checked out”.
  • Fixed an error when you try to check in the files, you receive the following error message “We can’t-do that for you because the file is no longer checked out or has been deleted”.
  • Outlook 2016 crashes randomly when you print a file by using certain third-party printers. This has fixed now.
  • When you open some PDF files that have certain image encoding in Word 2016, the images may be displayed black.
  • Merged table cells are broken after you install August 8, 2017, update for Word 2016 (KB3213656) or September 5, 2017, update for Word 2016 (KB4011039), this has been resolved now.
