PowerShell 7.3.9

  • [Build and Packaging Improvements]
    • Use the correct agent pool for downloading from the Azure blob
    • Remove a timeout value from the ADO pipeline stage to resolve a syntax issue
    • Update .NET 7 and manifests.
    • Add SBOM for the release pipeline.
    • Increase timeout when publishing packages to pacakages.microsoft.com.
    • Use fxdependent-win-desktop runtime for compliance runs.

PowerShell 7.2.16 LTS

  • [Build and Packaging Improvements]
    • Fix release pipeline yaml.
    • Fix issues with merging backports in packaging.
    • Update .NET 6 and TPN (Internal 28149)
    • Add runtime and packaging type info for mariner2 arm64.
    • Add mariner arm64 to PMC release.
    • Remove HostArchitecture dynamic parameter for osxpkg.
    • Use fxdependent-win-desktop runtime for compliance runs.
    • Add SBOM for the release pipeline
    • Increase timeout when publishing packages to pacakages.microsoft.com.
    • Add mariner arm64 package build to release build.

Install PowerShell 7.3.9, 7.2.16 LTS

Here is how you can install Windows PowerShell on Windows 1110, 8.1, and Windows 7:

  1. Download and execute the respective MSI file from the links above.

    The installation wizard will now run.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Select the destination folder for the installation and click Next again.

  4. Select the optional features you want to install and click Next.

    Select the optional features to install, such as adding PowerShell to environment variables, enabling PowerShell remoting, adding PowerShell to the context menu, etc.

  5. Click Next again.

  6. Click Install to begin the installation.

  7. Once installed, click Finish.

  8. Now type in “pwsh” in the Run Command box to confirm the installation.

How to uninstall PowerShell

If you do not require PowerShell in the future then you may remove it from your computer. Here is how:

  1. Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run Command box.

  2. Type in “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter to open the Programs and Features applet.

  3. Right-click on the PowerShell version that you want to remove and then click Uninstall.

    If asked for confirmation, click Yes.

The selected version of PowerShell will now be removed from your computer.
