Adobe has codenamed the latest Flash Player as “Jones”. Adobe has also introduced the new numbering scheme with this release. According to the new scheme, the version numbers will be updated for major releases only doing away completely for minor releases. This means that Flash Player 11 has a lot of versions 11.1, 11.2 and up to 11.9. But after version 12, the next version will be 13 and so on and so forth.
Adobe will be releasing new version of Flash Player and Adobe Air after every three months with a new major release number. This rapid release version numbering was first adapted by Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Key features and enhancements in Flash Player 12
If we look at the latest release as a Windows user, we will find that Flash Player 12 doesn’t include a lot of new features or enhancements for us. The only big thing for Windows users is that now Flash Player supports Internet Explorer 11.
Apart from that, Flash Player 12 for Mac comes with .pkg installation support. It also supports Safe Mode in Safari 6.1 or higher.
If you want to run 64-bit Flash Player for Google Chrome, you may need to download Chrome Canary build.
Android Workers, a beta version in Adobe Air 3.9, will be made available in Adobe Air 4.
